Purpose

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another – Proverbs 27:17

Our purpose is to equip and empower men to connect to God, to others,
to ministry and to the world in order to increase God’s Kingdom here on earth.

Our prayer is that every man in our church will be a part of a small group and will incorporate into his personal life these spiritual goals and behaviors:

Practice of Spiritual Disciplines:
Mt 14:23, Jos 1:8

Organized Bible Study:
2 Tim 2:15-17

Accountability Group:
Gal 6:1-2, Jam 5:16

Active Church Involvement:
Heb 10:24-25

Personal Ministry:
1 Pet 4:10-11, 2 Tim 2:2

I believe the men in our society today, in our community and in our very own church are in a constant battle. A battle to perform, to succeed, to measure up, to provide all they can for themselves and their families. Even though we may know we have been called to be the spiritual leaders of our families, the everyday battles we face, cause us to put this responsibility at the bottom of the list of our priorities.

Studies have shown that most men over thirty do not have close friends. They have colleagues and work associates, golf partners, and maybe a "couples" friend or two, in which the bond is usually between wives. Most men define themselves by what they do, who they know, or by what they own. I personally have been there, done that and suffered the consequences that followed. My hope is that I can be used in some small way to help men see the need for balance in their lives, to distinguish the difference between success and true significance, and perhaps even learn a little from some of the choices I made in my own life...the good and the bad.

As men, we need someone to show us how to seek, find, and hear God. A teacher can explain the principles of prayer, Bible study, and worship, but the typical man learns best by example. That's why being a part of the men's ministry at Crossroads is so important. God did not intend for us to go this journey alone; He has called us to join together in support and love for one another.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"  Ecclesiastes 4:9

I would enjoy hearing from you.
